Large-eddy simulation of turbulent heat transfer in negative buoyant fountain

This paper presents the results of large-eddy simulation (LES) a downward wall jet that encounters an upward flow in vertical rectangular channel, named negative buoyant fountain (NBF). The fluid has higher temperature than opposing stream so influence buoyancy force on physics mixing process can be investigated. Two subgrid-scale models available OpenFOAM platform, i.e. dynamic k-equation model (DKM) and wall-adapting local eddy-viscosity (WALE) model, are used for cross-comparison. numerical time-averaged fluctuating velocity fields agree satisfactorily with experimental data. LES form accurate, high-resolution, three-dimensional database turbulent mixing, which expanded sparse field measurements provided by experiment, hence could to validate Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) method contribute turbulence modeling. In particular, statistics heat flux have been analyzed various priori tested based database. Such information useful RANS guidelines or deriving anisotropic applicable flows sharing similar principal structures complex geometries.
